If I go to the FYE close to my home and I pay $5.00 dollars per movie, they reserve the SteelBooks™?  Do they actually save me a copy of each movie or I may show up and find out they ran out and reimburse me?  I'm asking because the closest FYE is a hike from my house.  Can I do it online on their website and have them shipped instead?

At this time no you cannot do it online.

Yes, if you pre-order it they put it aside when it is released for you with your name on it. They are also supposed to call you when your order is ready for pickup. Now each store may have their own quality of customer service, so I cannot promise this will 100% happen. But most people have had good experiences with their pre-orders at FYE. Much better than Best Buy.

You may want to call your store up and remind them on the Saturday/Sunday before the Tuesday official release day of each SteelBook™. Sometimes they get stock available as early as Saturday and may even sell it early if other local stores in the area break release date or if that FYE store gets the "green light" from corporate.

The experiences I have had at my store have been good. Only once I had pre-ordered Godfather SteelBook™ and they never received stock on it. However, the manager was able to get a copy from another store to fulfill my pre-order. You may want to try to make contact with the store manager so that you can always call if you have any issues with that store and s/he may be able to help you.

Good luck!

annie has a good summary of the process above. so my post here is unnecessary. but lol, from my limited knowledge, the fye manager, general manager, whatever, puts in pre-orders. depending on the person, sales, expectations, whatever, he/she may only pre-order the exact number of pre-orders and thats it! or he/she may pre-order 10 extra. and so on.

so with fye, imho always pre-order something you think you do want. then sit back and relax Cheesy

So far on all of FYE SteelBook™ releases I have not pre-ordered.  I always go there in the morning at opening and try to get the most pristine copy I can get.  I have never had any problems doing it that way.  Yes, they do run out sometimes, but some titles they over order and they are still there on the shelves.  Like Iron Man and Indy4  Smiley

I always preorder mine and they always pull me a copy in great condition.  I do most of my dealings with one of the managers and she stays on top of things.  A few of the folks actualy know me by name there. Cheesy

Yet, I had that once, but they switched out management and I don't have any connections there now.  Since, I don't buy anything from them except for the SteelBooks™, I'm never there enough to get to know anyone new.   Undecided

Yes, that's for the DVD version.  I will have to get that one so my DVd SteelBook™ isn't so lonely.  I want the FutureShop exclusive Bluray version, but I think it's just the SteelBook™ case given out went you purchase the Bluray version.

Actually, its backwards, the future shop design looks identical to the TWCE design, since the design was revealed like a month before Futureshop's design outside most Suncoast/FYE stores displays.  Grin
